Elena received her Bachelor of Music degree from Ottawa University and has over 30 years of experience teaching piano, percussion, and theory in private and group lessons. Continuing education included receiving her Yamaha certification to teach Yamaha group classes.
Her extensive experience includes self-publishing, writing award-winning arrangements, composing, accompanying choirs and instrumentalists, and playing in orchestra.
Her step-by-step approach and ability to break down goals into smaller, achievable steps, has helped her students to consistently achieve high marks in their RCM studies in piano and theory.
Her philosophy of teaching is based on teaching students to find joy in playing and learning. She makes use of many different approaches to foster an enjoyment of learning and curiosity. Elena aims to provide positive and constructive feedback that will help the student to progress in a stress-free environment. Her extensive library and knowledge of repertoire is instrumental in engaging students and helping them to achieve their musical goals.
